Server Downtime
First of all I want to apologize for all of my websites being down for a while. Both of my servers and are provided through a company called ThePlanet.com in Houston Texas, one of the leading server providers in the United States. On May 30th, 2008 there was an electrical fire from wires short circuiting. As a result of the fire, three walls of one room were burned down. The power to the entire building was shut off as well.
On May 31st I contacted ThePlanet to find out why neither of my servers were online. I was informed at the time that the power was out in the building and further information would be available later. The next day I was informed about the fire. I’ve spent the past few days following the progress of the downtime at ThePlanet. You can read in detail everything I was told by going to this website: http://service-update.theplanet.com/
In total, over 9,000 servers were effected by the fire, then a generator failure, then other electrical problems that destroyed hard drives and lots of information. We were very lucky in the big scheme of things.
In the past week I’ve had a lot of calls and instant messages and read posts at online forums asking about what happened to both of my servers. I tried my best to get word out by posting on these sites. Unfortunately, there was no way to notify all of my members about what was happening — all of the game data, files, and email addresses are on the servers I had no way of getting access to. Needless to say there was no way for me to contact everyone about what had happened and what was going on.
I’d like to dispel a few rumors that I’ve seen going around.
No, White Oak Stables nor any other of my websites are going to be shut down.
None of your horses, pets, dogs, etc were aged, died, hurt, or had babies while the website was down. Any time the server goes down it’s like the game freezes in place.
Upgrades will be made as soon as possible. If you sent in money for an upgrade and you don’t see it on your account by tomorrow morning please contct me and let me know so I can correct the situation as soon as possible.
I devote as much of my spare time as I can to all of my games. In a few months I’m looking to hire a part time/full time programmer as an employee to get some more things done on my websites.
All of my email addresses are working now. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to send them along.
Thank you for your time, understanding, and patience.
